Articles on Entertaiment
Entertaining is a highly versatile medium with a remarkable capacity for creative remix. Many familiar forms of entertainment have crossed over from one medium to another, and a seemingly endless potential for creative remix has ensured the continuity of enduring themes and images. Entertainment often hits on points that the brain was evolved to react deeply to, like social backstabbing and murders. It also stimulates the brain to realease seratonin, dopamine and other chemicals, which is why it gives you that good feeling after watching.
The word entertainment derives from the Medieval Latin inter tenere, wherein the prefix inter means “inside” and the suffix tenere means to hold inside. Interestingly enough, a similar root is found in the word stretch.
